- Fill a pot with about an inch of water and bring it to a gentle simmer over medium heat. Position a steamer basket over the pot, ensuring the water level remains below the basket to prevent direct contact with the broccoli. 
- Place the broccoli florets inside the steamer basket, spreading them out evenly for consistent cooking. Cover the pot with a lid and allow the broccoli to steam for approximately five minutes, or until the florets become tender yet retain a slight bite. 
- Once steamed, transfer the broccoli to a serving dish. If desired, drizzle with extra-virgin olive oil and a squeeze of fresh lemon juice for a hint of brightness. Sprinkle with sea salt and freshly ground black pepper to enhance its natural flavors. Serve immediately while warm.
