Ingredients

  • ½ cup sour cream or whole milk Greek yogurt
  • ¼ to ½ cup mayonnaise
  • 2 to 4 tablespoons buttermilk or preferred milk
  • 1 teaspoon distilled white vinegar
  • 1 teaspoon fresh lemon juice
  • 1 teaspoon dried dill
  • ½ teaspoon garlic powder
  • ¼ teaspoon onion powder
  • ¼ to ½ teaspoon sea salt
  • Freshly ground black pepper
  • 1 tablespoon chopped fresh chives optional
  • 1 tablespoon chopped fresh dill optional

Instructions

  • In a medium-sized mixing bowl, whisk together the sour cream, ¼ cup of mayonnaise, 2 tablespoons of milk, dried dill, lemon juice, vinegar, garlic powder, onion powder, ¼ teaspoon of salt, and a few grinds of fresh black pepper. Stir until the mixture achieves a smooth and creamy consistency.
  • For a thicker dressing, increase the amount of mayonnaise. If a thinner consistency is preferred, gradually add more milk until the desired texture is reached.
  • Taste and adjust the seasoning by adding more salt or black pepper as needed. If using, gently fold in the freshly chopped chives and dill to enhance the flavor with a bright, herbaceous note.
  • Use immediately as a salad dressing, dipping sauce, or drizzle over roasted vegetables. Store in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to five days.
